PIO's Premier Starter is Pérez Monday, July 1st, 2024 There's something about a young rookie winning the Pioneer League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with José Pérez, a 21-year-old starter for the Saskatoon Smokin' Guns. In June, he topped off the month with a 4-0 mark and 0.56 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 32.1 innings, fanned 35 and held opposing teams to a .159 average. Checking out his stats for the season, Pérez has notched 6 wins and 3 losses in 9 starts, 1.53 ERA and struck out 87 batters in 70.2 innings. |
