Ward Socks it to LightSabres, Cracks 5 Hits
Wednesday, August 21st, 2024
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Gunner Ward of the Reading Rainbows. He tore up the Buffalo LightSabres to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Reading 16-6 win today at LightSabre Stadium. "Ward was a tough out today," the Buffalo manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure." Gunner Ward hit a two-run double in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.
This season Ward is batting at a .181 clip with 2 home runs and 18 RBIs.
