Southern League Names Top Player Monday, July 15th, 2024 So far in his young career, Fernando Ortíz has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Southern League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 23-year-old West Virginia Power right fielder hit at a torrid .469 clip as he collected 15 hits in 32 at-bats, 2 home runs, 15 RBIs and 9 runs scored. So far this season, Ortíz has recorded a .324 batting average with 122 hits, 26 home runs, 101 RBIs, 77 runs scored and a .413 OBP. |
