Montoya Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Sunday, July 7th, 2024 "Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Redwood City's Alfonso Montoya told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well." It definitely turned out well for Montoya today as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats against San Jose. It turned out well for his team, too, as the Redwoods knocked off the Missions 11-3 at Redwood Park. Alfonso Montoya struck out in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and doubled in the 8th. This year Montoya is batting .311 with 4 home runs and 20 RBIs. In 34 games he has scored 23 times. |
