Cerveceros Chill Hernández's Hot Streak
Friday, June 21st, 2024
Redwood City shortstop Juan Hernández came into today's game against the Mexico City Cerveceros on a hot streak. When it was over, the Cerveceros did their job very well. They beat the Redwood City Redwoods 10-3 and cooled him off at the same time. Mexico City stopped Hernández without a hit and his 21-game hitting streak came to an end.

The 34-year-old Hernández only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."

His manager commented, "What Juan did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

So far this season Hernández has put up a .272 batting average with 46 hits, 2 home runs and 20 RBIs.
