Villa Rips Birmingham for 5 Hits Monday, July 15th, 2024 History in the making. That's what the fans at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace got to see today, when Hendersonville outplayed the Steeldogs 13-8. Lorenzo Villa of the Hitmen came to the plate 6 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Birmingham. In the postgame press conference the Birmingham skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink." Lorenzo Villa singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Vinícius Itaquy in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. In 74 games Villa is hitting .320 this season with 86 hits, 15 home runs, 50 RBIs, 34 walks, .390 OBP and has scored 41 runs. |
