Three times he celebrated by pounding the ball out of The Throne Room. He kiddingly told reporters after the game, "Hopefully, I can continue to close my eyes and swing as hard as I can. It worked well today." The powerful Jersey Shore right fielder tagged 3 hits in 3 at-bats, drove in 6 runs and scored 3 times in his three-homer outburst. Dodd added, "Seriously, I just try to swing early and often to give myself a chance. I let the pitcher supply all the power, I just try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." "We talked about changing our strategy for the third one ... and then he hit another homer," the Kansas City manager said. "We just couldn't get him out." Dave Dodd hit a two-run home run off Cristóbal Gómez in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Cristóbal Gómez in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Leonardo Rodríguez in the 8th.
