Stars Bennett Booms 3 HRs Saturday, September 14th, 2024 If you were sitting in the bleachers and brought your glove to the Stars-Boccabellas game, there was a good chance you'd catch one of the three home runs hit by Calvin Bennett. The Stars center fielder repeatedly sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir and led Springfield to a 12-1 win over Pocatello. "Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub ... not thinkin' about home runs. I'm just thinkin' about winning ballgames. When you think about home runs, you very seldom get 'em," he philosophized in the postgame press conference. Bennett was 3 for 4 on the day with 5 runs batted in. Calvin Bennett hit a solo-shot off José Rojas in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off José Rojas in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Adrián León in the 9th. For the season Bennett is hitting .278, batted in 96 runs with 23 home runs and 90 runs scored. |
