Nelson Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Friday, April 28th, 2023 It was an almost perfect day. Otsego HS right fielder Ken Nelson displayed a hot bat today, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day. But something was missing -- the Bulldogs failed to win -- they lost to the Brookline HS Warriors 15-14. "Some days, Lady Luck is on your side, some days she's not," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Ken is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have, and vice versa." The 19-year-old right fielder for the Bulldogs collected 5 hits in 7 at-bats to get his name in the record book. Ken Nelson hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Cory Graham in the 7th, singled in the 9th and grounded out in the 10th. This year Nelson is batting .362 with 42 hits, 10 home runs, 30 RBIs, 11 walks, .419 OBP and has scored 26 runs. |
