Long Goes 5-for-6 Against Bishop Verot HS
Saturday, April 8th, 2023
After the Randall HS 16-5 victory over Bishop Verot HS and his 5-hit day second baseman Bryan Long told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good. Three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special." The 17-year-old player gained that distinction today at Mudcats Ballpark with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Bishop Verot HS. The skipper of the Raiders spoke glowingly of Long, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Bryan did that to perfection today." Bryan Long hit a three-run double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
This year Long has hit no home runs and posted a .275 batting average.
