Moore Sensational, 16 Ks Sunday, May 7th, 2023 It was a very special game for George Moore today at Shipley Field in Maryland. He had the perfect delivery. The good fastball. The nasty curve. The batters mumbling and muttering when they swung and missed. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. In an unforgettable performance the 19-year-old Moore fanned 16 Panthers and sparked the Maryland Terrapins to a 5-1 victory over Pittsburgh. His catcher commented, "I don't think I have seen him throw better. His location and command were really something." In addition to his 16 strikeouts, Johnson allowed 1 hit and 5 walks in a superlative outing. His manager added, "It's a manager's day off when you get pitching like that." The Pittsburgh skipper had no comment. Looking at his season stats, Moore has won 6 and lost 1, collecting 77 strikeouts and 17 walks in 44.1 innings with a 2.64 ERA. |
