O'Dell Rockets 3 HR Against Pittsburgh Saturday, May 6th, 2023 Going... Going... Gone! Doyle O'Dell did it three times in the Auburn 20-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers. Three home runs in one game! "I was in a groove," he said, "and every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit." Commenting after the game to the press, the elated O'Dell explained, "I tell you what, I was so shocked because I didn't think the last ball had enough to get out. I thought it was just going to be a long out." For the day the Auburn first baseman went 4-for-6 against Pittsburgh with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting. Doyle O'Dell doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Scott Doss in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, flied out in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Ken Robinson in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Mike Nieves in the 8th. This year O'Dell has 10 home runs and a .220 batting average. |
