Turner 5-for-5 for Blue Devils Friday, May 5th, 2023 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Don Turner. It was a very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Turner went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off UCLA pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond at Jack Coombs Field, he had a career 5-for-5 day and something he will long remember. And the Duke Blue Devils had a 9-7 victory over the Bruins. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview. Don Turner hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th. Thus far this season Turner is hitting .259 with 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 36 hits in 139 at-bats and has played in 31 games. |
