Yánez Week's Best in PIO Monday, May 22nd, 2023 With some great hand-eye coordination and a sweet, compact swing, Saskatoon Smokin' Guns shortstop António Yánez took the Pioneer League by storm this past week to take the latest Player of the Week honors. "The ball was looking like a beach ball all week," a happy Yánez said to BNN reporters. "When it's that big, it doesn't matter where they throw it -- I can hit it anywhere." The 24-year-old shortstop hit .400 (10-for-25) last week with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 8 runs scored. For the year Yánez has hit .266 with 12 home runs, 36 RBIs and scored 31 runs. |
