Big Day with Bat: Pitts 5-for-5 Wednesday, June 21st, 2023 Dave Pitts told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard." Well, that's just what Pitts of the Plumstead Eagles did against the Wisconsin Rapids Rangers. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Rangers, who suffered a 23-1 defeat. "Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us." Dave Pitts hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 4th, walked in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th. This season in 74 games, Pitts has hit at a .340 clip with 90 hits, 9 home runs, 53 RBIs and 46 runs scored. |
