Mata Grabs PCL Top Pitcher Trophy Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 António Mata has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in July and stole away with the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Month award. The Hammertime bullpen ace collected 8 saves and 10 strikeouts in 13 innings, holding the opposition to a .217 average and posting a 1.38 ERA and a 2-0 record. To this point in the season Mata has 19 saves in 48 relief appearances with a 4-6 record and 4.05 ERA. |
