Ordóñez Clips Ducks for Cycle
Tuesday, June 13th, 2023
You might say Roberto Ordóñez wore out his welcome with the Waba Ducks. The left fielder gave them fits in today's 8-2 Birmingham victory by hitting for the cycle. "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Ordóñez ended the day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 2 runs batted in and 3 runs scored.
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, he said, "After the first three hits, I thought to myself, This could be the game I hit for the cycle. And I got lucky and did it."
Roberto Ordóñez doubled in the 1st, tripled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Ignacio Colón in the 9th.
Ordóñez on the season is batting .297 with 2 home runs. His totals include 3 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has played in 9 games.
