Bennett Strokes 5 Hits Friday, August 18th, 2023 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Calvin Bennett. It was a very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Bennett went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Wisconsin pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond at Snake Park, he had a career 5-for-6 day and something he will long remember. And the Topeka Tornados had a 15-4 victory over the Timber Rattlers. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview. Calvin Bennett struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Tim Wilson in the 7th, tripled in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th. This season Bennett has delivered 162 hits in 510 at-bats for a .318 average with 35 home runs. He is getting on base at a .385 clip and his totals also include 111 RBIs and 126 runs scored. This year Bennett has played in 125 games. |
