Billings West HS Ace Named HSSL Outstanding Hitter Award
Thursday, June 15th, 2023
With stellar statistics and an uncanny ability to lead his team to victory, many around High School Stars League felt John Jones was a shoo-in to be named most valuable player - except for the player himself.
"There's lots of great players in the league, I'm not so sure I deserve to be named among the best," he said.
But Jones has in fact been named the 2023 High School Stars League Outstanding Hitter Award winner.
The Billings West HS Golden Bears ace put up an impressive year, with a 0-0 record. In 0 starts he piled up 0 innings, had no strikeouts with 0 walks and a 0.00 ERA. Jones held opposing hitters to a 1.000 batting average and compiled a 0.0 WAR along the way.
Jon Etheridge of the Rocky Point HS Eagles finished second in voting, while Tommy Davenport of the Shelby HS Rockets finished third.
