Martin Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Friday, May 19th, 2023 John Martin had an answer for everything the Illinois Fighting Illini threw him today in the Purdue 13-5 triumph at Illinois Field. He made good contact 5 times and 5 times he drilled the ball for a base hit. The Purdue catcher went 5 for 6 in the game to put his name in the record book. Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Martin said, "I just see the ball and I hit it." John Martin flied out in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and doubled in the 9th. Martin is batting .243 with 4 home runs and 18 RBIs this season. |
