King Perfect Against Northwestern
Friday, May 12th, 2023
Some say that perfection is only an illusion that can never be turned into reality. Today, Jeffrey King showed the world that perfection can be attained, if only for a brief time. King entered baseball history today by throwing a perfect game against the Northwestern Wildcats. The final score was 8-0.
A total of 6 batters struck out against King, who showed great control as he walked none. There were no baserunners in the game. No errors, either. Every batter he faced was retired.
"I'm still having a hard time accepting that this really happened," King told reporters after the game. "The standing ovation and the curtain calls were more than I ever expected to receive playing ball. I want to thank the fans, my family, and most of all my teammates for helping me experience this. I would like to thank the Northwestern Wildcats, too. They helped me out a lot today by swinging when they shouldn't have."
This season to date King has a record of 6 wins and 1 loss with a 1.92 ERA, has appeared in 9 games and struck out 64 in 51.2 innings.
