Chase Bounced, Colorado Looks for New Skipper Tuesday, June 13th, 2023 It came as no surprise to anyone in the press corps: Ken Chase was fired today as manager of the Colorado Commanders. His feuds with Commanders players were one of the worst-kept secrets in baseball. Even through the closed doors of the manager's office, reporters often overheard shouting matches between Chase and players. Rumors that a recent argument between Chase and an unnamed pitcher degenerated into fisticuffs could not be substantiated, but there was no denying the acrimonious atmosphere that had developed in the clubhouse. Team insiders had been saying for weeks that it was only a matter of time before Chase would be let go. According to these insiders, the team has a replacement in mind, but will hold off making an official announcement for at least a day. |
