Borges Gets 5 Hits Thursday, May 25th, 2023 It seemed that State College catcher Valentín Borges could do no wrong as the Spikes kayoed the Redlegs 16-0 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 7 at-bats. Nashua pitchers couldn't get him out as Borges seemed to know which pitches they were throwing. "I think the Spikes were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Nashua fan. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Borges in the postgame press interview. Valentín Borges singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th. For the season, Borges is hitting at a .357 clip with 9 home runs, 46 RBIs and has scored 31 runs. He has 61 hits, 16 walks and a .413 on-base percentage. |
