Orioles Chill Díaz's Hot Streak Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 Cincinnati first baseman Fernando Díaz came into today's game against the Barry's Bay Orioles on a hot streak. When it was over, the Orioles did their job very well. They beat the Cincinnati Pride 6-5 and cooled him off at the same time. Barry's Bay stopped Díaz without a hit and his 20-game hitting streak came to an end. The 23-year-old Díaz only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short." His manager commented, "What Fernando did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." So far this season Díaz has hit .338 with 6 home runs, 44 RBIs and and scored 38 times. |
