Díaz Sizzles -- Smokes Death Stars for 6 Hits
Thursday, June 1st, 2023
Players get multihit games all the time. But a 6-hit game comes around only once in a blue moon. It happened at Empire Stadium when Fernando Díaz of Cincinnati scattered 6 hits all over the ballpark against the Minnesota Death Stars. He walloped 6 hits in 7 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Pride get by the Death Stars 19-1. In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the first baseman of the Pride said, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 6-for-7. I could get used to a lot of days like this one." Fernando Díaz singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
Thus far this year Díaz is hitting .347 with 6 home runs, 44 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
