Townsley Caps Memorable Season with MSL Outstanding Hitter Award Honor Monday, October 16th, 2023 Not only has Rich Townsley been named winner of the 2023 Midwest League Outstanding Hitter Award, he's done it at an age when many of his peers are still trying to establish themselves in Midwest League. "I feel fortunate to win this award at age 24," he said. "I feel like I still have my best years ahead of me. Hopefully I can put my name on this trophy a few more times." The Plumstead Eagles ace had a 22-4 record over 34 starts and 199 innings. He struck out 272, issued 67 walks and had an impressive 1.49 ERA. Batters hit only .164 against him during the season. Oliver Deleón of the Plumstead Eagles finished second in voting, while Ricardo Marino of the Erie Jaxx finished third. |
