Going... Going... Gone! Chang-geun Kim did it three times in the San Jose 13-6 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts. Three home runs in one game! "I was in a groove," he said, "and every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit."
Commenting after the game to the press, the elated Kim explained, "I tell you what, I was so shocked because I didn't think the last ball had enough to get out. I thought it was just going to be a long out."
For the day the San Jose center fielder went 3-for-5 against Lansing with 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting.
Chang-geun Kim hit a three-run home run off Felipe Valdomar in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Felipe Valdomar in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Armando Rodríguez in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
This season Kim is batting .291 with 29 home runs.
