ITL Awards Outstanding Hitter Award, Vickers Gets Prize Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 At the age of 23, Jimmy Vickers of the Otsego Bulldogs could very well have his best years ahead of him. It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2023 was good enough to win the first baseman the International League Outstanding Hitter Award. "See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach." The top hitter put up a .370 batting average this year, as well as a .480 on-base percentage. He played 128 games and racked up 184 hits, 49 doubles, 3 triples, 42 home runs, 177 RBIs and 135 runs scored. Tony Morton of the Waba Ducks finished second in voting, while Calvin Bennett of the Topeka Tornados finished third. |
