Week's #1 Player: Detroit's Simmons Monday, August 21st, 2023 Detroit fans have something to crow about today as Detroit right fielder Mark Simmons nabbed the International League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Simmons. He posted a .444 average (12-for-27) this past week with 4 home runs, 11 RBIs, and 7 runs scored. Simmons is hitting .289 for the season with 24 home runs, 100 RBIs and 72 runs scored. He has 108 hits in 374 at-bats and played in 98 games. |
