Athletic Club KC Snaps Chalmers's Streak at 20 Friday, August 8th, 2031 For 20 straight games, Gary Chalmers tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy. Well, the 28-year-old Port Royal Disaster catcher can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Athletic Club KC Reserves. The Reserves held him hitless in 3 at-bats at KC Reserve Stadium today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 20. There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Disaster took the win by the score of 5-3. "I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now." This year Chalmers has hit at a .336 clip with 42 RBIs, 5 home runs and 35 runs scored. |
