Drummers Stop Santos at 21 Monday, June 23rd, 2031 Calgary second baseman Francisco Santos came into today's game against the Tortolita Drummers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Drummers did their jobs well, beating the Calgary Lynx 2-1 and holding Santos hitless to snap his 21-game hitting streak. The 29-year-old second baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Francisco did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Lynx manager Ricardo Betancourt. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." This year Santos has hit at a .368 clip with 12 RBIs, 3 home runs and 21 runs scored. |
