The Highwood Hawks shut out the Belleville Bulls 2-0 today behind the strong pitching of Stan Lowe. Lowe surrendered only 3 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 11.

Following the last out, Lowe appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Belleville manager Lockwood Rose, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken left-hander as the clubs left the field. Lowe's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.

The Bulls skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Hawks press conference, Lowe confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.

"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Lowe said.

"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Highwood manager Bill Callahan added.

So far this year Lowe has made 4 starts, tossed 28.2 innings, struck out 29 batters and walked 16. His record is 2-2 with a 4.40 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .231 batting average.
