Big Day for Carlisle as Rails Down Shooters, 5-3
|
It was a fun time at Rails Ballpark, where the Springfield Shooters and Richland Rails tangled.
The Richland Rails bested the Springfield Shooters by a score of 5-3, with shortstop Leon Carlisle getting the main credit. On the day, Carlisle went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Rails. Richland reliever Stephen Knight picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Roy Gartner was saddled with the loss.
The Rails got a big at-bat from third baseman Jared Morningstar. For the game, Morningstar went 1 for 5. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 27th hit of the season gave Richland a 4-3 lead.
Carlisle attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
Richland is now 18-27.
