Curry Excels, But Targaryens Win
|
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Jackson Curry, the Tremont Doubledays suffered a 9-6 loss to the Royse City Targaryens. Curry went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. The winner was Alberto Reyes, who threw 109 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 9 hits. Royse City now has a 3-game win streak.
Fokke Willemsen had a big 2-run single for the Targaryens in the bottom of the second inning. With Royse City leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a splitter from Jeff Bradshaw and stroked the single to right. It was his 26th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Targaryens ahead, 4-1.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Royse City manager Chris Drew.
