Battlekings Come Back Late, Nip Disaster
|
The Naperville Battlekings scored a 3-2 win versus the Port Royal Disaster at Constellation Ballpark. Naperville pitcher Mario Gonzáles nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Naperville reliever Kelemeneke Balun picked up the win to move to 6-1. Kevin Samuels suffered the loss. The save was credited to Esteban Jiménez, his 21st.
Alex Mable's at-bat in the bottom of the fifth was significant for the Battlekings. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Naperville trailing 1-0, the right fielder hit a sacrifice fly.
"Mario is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Naperville manager Marcus Terry.
Naperville, at 40-36, occupies third place in the Silver AAA.
