Victory Pushes Halberds Record to 23-22
|
The Alloway Halberds faced a tough opponent in Scranton pitcher Apollo Cepeda, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Alloway by a final score of 3-2. Cepeda went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The win was credited to Juan Carlos Herrera in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Apollo Cepeda took the loss. Marcos Sarmiento saved it for Alloway.
Had Myron Rosenbalm not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Rosenbalm hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Halberds.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Rosenbalm said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Halberds bumped their record to 23-22 with this latest triumph.
