Great Lakers Chill Gómez's Hot Streak Tuesday, July 2nd, 2030 It was the best of both worlds for the Pure Michigan Great Lakers today at Coyote Wildlife Refuge as they defeated the Hamilton Coyotes 12-2 and also snapped José Gómez's 20-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old Hamilton third baseman failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Gómez, we just wanted to win the game," said Great Lakers skipper Mark Everhart. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Gómez frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." Gómez is hitting .286 this year with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .377, 23 walks and scored 30 times. |
