Yellowknife Left Fielder Picked PA Player of the Week Monday, August 12th, 2030 No single hit brought Víctor Cuevas Player of the Week honors -- the Yellowknife Dragonblood left fielder corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Cuevas. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too aggressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Cuevas stroked 11 hits in 19 at-bats while cranking out no home runs, 3 RBIs and 9 runs scored. So far this year, Cuevas is batting .319 with 5 home runs and 30 RBIs. |
