The Philadelphia 1776 BC thumped the Athletic Club KC, 8-2, at Athletics Park. Fernando Rivera was a big reason his team got the win. Rivera was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Bill Tugwell was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Philadelphia 1776 is now 30-44.
Cliff Aldridge had a big 2-run single for the BC in the top of the fifth inning. With Philadelphia 1776 leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Juan Torres and stroked the single to right. It was his 22nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the BC ahead, 3-0.
