Northern Lions BC Lose to Dutchmen, 5-3
|
New Amsterdam Dutchmen starter Min-gook Chong pitched a strong game against the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at Dutch Master Park, leading the Dutchmen to a 5-3 win. Chong, now 2-5, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 3 earned runs. Frenk Norman earned the save for New Amsterdam, his 6th of the year.
The Dutchmen got a big at-bat from first baseman SaQwan Hackett. For the game, Hackett was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 11th double of the season gave New Amsterdam a 1-0 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Chong told the New Amsterdam Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
The Dutchmen improved to 23-23.
