Almost There: Wizarding On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 4-2 Win
|
Game was big. So was Ralph McKinney.
The Wizarding starter rose to the occasion at Washington Stadium today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Express to a crucial 4-2 victory over the D.C. Divided. McKinney threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs as the Express won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
Had Nathan Tanner not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Tanner hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Express.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," McKinney said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
