Victory Pushes Generals Record to 52-39
|
The Gwinnett County Black Cats got a superb performance from pitcher Timmo Vreke. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Washington. The Generals won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, Vreke was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Washington is now 52-39.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington, had it not been for Fernando Acevedo, the 18-year old center fielder . Acevedo contributed a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put Washington up, 4-1.
Gwinnett County manager Kenny Billings said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
