Generals Turn Back Hammond, 3-2

The Generals had to overcome a good performance from Hammond pitcher Ryunosuke Kurota to claim a 3-2 win at The Heron Refuge. Kurota went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Dan Fletcher was the winner. Over 8 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Ramón Cortéz notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.
Josh Mawdesley was a key contributor to the win for the Generals. In the top of the sixth with no one out, the light-hitting right fielder stroked a single to center. He was 1-4.
"It was a solid team effort," said Mawdesley after the game.
The Generals' win now puts them at 41-31.
