Rainbow Mermaids Clip Patriots in Tight Contest
|
Fans who gathered at Dunkin Donuts Park saw a good contest between the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and Boston Patriots.
Northern Virginia pitcher Mimosa Joseph did his part in helping his team beat the Boston Patriots, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Joseph, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 3 earned runs. David Hudson picked up the save, his 5th.
Had Arlen Joysey not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Joysey hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Rainbow Mermaids.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Joseph told the Northern Virginia Gazette.
The Patriots fall to 4-9 and continue their lackluster start to the 2030 season.
