The South Beach Blaze got a stellar performance from pitcher Aaron Briggs, who handcuffed the Hammond offense en route to a 6-2 win at The Heron Refuge. South Beach is off to a hot start at 8-4.

Daniel Bertrand helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run single to give South Beach a 2-0 lead.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Briggs told the South Beach Daily. "You win just by scoring more runs."
