Victory Over Caterpillars Takes Louisiana to 28-16
|
Louisiana and Grand Forks got after it at The Cocoon.
Louisiana starter Santiago Ramírez put a stranglehold on the Grand Forks offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Dragoons to a 8-1 win. The winning pitcher was Ramírez, now 2-0. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Christiaan Volkers got credit for the save for Louisiana. It was his 3rd of the year.
Reynaldo Padilla had a big 2-run double for the Dragoons in the top of the third inning. With Louisiana trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Paco Rojas and stroked the double to left-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dragoons ahead, 2-1.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Ramírez.
Louisiana, at 28-16, occupies first place in the Menard's A.
