Rodríguez goes 3-for-5, Screaming Eagles Move to 59-36
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the Tacoma Fur Traders, 11-4, in USPL Double A action at Ballpark of Tacoma. Gabriel Rodríguez received player of the game honors. The 1-year veteran went 3-5 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once. Héctor Tista earned the win to go to 6-2. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Collin Hill, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Mercer Island took a 6-4 lead on Rodríguez's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Wendell Clingan in the top of the sixth, propelled Mercer Island to the win.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Mercer Island manager Jared Gilbert.
Mercer Island is now 59-36, 7 games up in the Premier AA.
