Highlanders Win at Myrtle Beach, 4-2
|
The Asheville Highlanders defeated the Myrtle Beach Mermen, 4-2, in USPL Double A action at Tennille Grounds, with Asheville pitcher Julián Menchaca named player of the game. In 6.2 innings, Menchaca surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Ching-hsia Hsing was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 10 save opportunities.
Craig Tricket helped out the Asheville cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the third baseman was 1-3 with a double and a walk.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Tricket, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Highlanders improved to 36-51.
