The Asheville Highlanders beat the Chesapeake Continentals, 6-5, at Chesapeake Grounds. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Juan Carlos Santos, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Asheville is now 16-28.

In the top of the 6th, center fielder Mario Jacome gave Asheville the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Highlanders had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out home run off Chesapeake pitcher Marcos Beringel changed that -- and Asheville went on to win.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Jacome.
