Mermen Walk It Off for 7th Win of Season
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles got a sterling performance from pitcher Gob Bluth, but the Mermen still prevailed, 8-7. Bluth was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He came in in relief and pitched to 31 batters . Myrtle Beach, at 7-2, is off to a blistering start.

It could have been a different outcome for Myrtle Beach, had it not been for Sancho Romero, the 30-year old shortstop . Romero contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 13th inning to put Myrtle Beach up, 8-7.

"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Myrtle Beach manager José González.
